20/07/2017 – As of 30 May 2017 the scope of Police Protection Notices will increase and tailored Domestic Violence Orders will come into effect as under the Domestic and Family Violence Protection and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2016.
30/06/2016 – From 1 July 2016 fee payable to the Federal Courts and Tribunals will increase.
1/02/2015 – New offences for lane filtering or riding on a shoulder incorrect have been introduced, with an on-the-spot fine of $341 and 3 demerit points. There is a maximum penalty of $2,277 if the matter goes before a court.
5/12/2014 – As a driver, you will get 3 demerit points and a $341 fine if you do not give the minimum distance when you pass a cyclist. If the matter goes to court, a maximum fine of $4554 can apply.
20/12/2013 – From 27 November 2013 a filing Fee of $94.20 applies to all Special Hardship Applications.
4/11/2013 – New amendments to the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 commenced on the 1 November 2013 enable Police enforcements to impound the vehicle of repeat offenders.
10/04/2013 – From 12 April 2013 the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia will be referred to as the Federal Circuit Court of Australia due to legislative amendments.
01/01/2010 – New laws commenced in 2010 that require repeat or high range offenders to have an inter lock device fitted to the vehicle for 12 months as a condition of having a licence re-issued.
